Saturday September 29, 2012 Join us as we celebrate National Public Lands Day and raise funds for the future Oak Ridge Lodge & Parklands in Shawnee Mission Park. Plans for the former Mack family residence and surrounding acreage call for transforming the Ogg Road site into a one-of-a-kind community gathering point in the style of the great Adirondack retreats and a respite for hikers, cyclists, birders and all who love nature.The park addition will include multiple trailheads, magnificent views, and 100 acres of wildflower meadows and native prairie surrounded by 254 acres of hardwood forest.

Family & Children's Activities
Award-winning storytelling, nature art activities, hayrides, lawn games, Ernie Miller Nature Center critters, an obstacle course, and an Amazing Family Adventure to physically and mentally challenge all ages.

Walk & Run Challenges
A free half-mile Double Ogg Walk & Stroll, a 2-mile Ogg Jog, and a 4.4-mile Oak Ridge Trail Run. The $25 entry fees for the Ogg Jogg and trail run include t-shirt, festival admission and meal. Presented by JCPRD and the Kansas City Trail Nerds.

Mountain Bike Challenges
& Introductory Class

A Kids Mountain Bike Race, a Guided Trail Ride for all ages, and even a Mountain Bike 101 class. A $25 fee for the class includes t-shirt, festival admission and meal. Presented by the Earth Riders Mountain Bike Club.
Disc Golf Tournament & Shootout
A 27-hole tournament with competition in four divisions, and free putting contests and other disc challenges. A $25 entry fee for the tournament includes t-shirt, festival admission and prizes. Presented by the Kansas City Flying Disc Club.

Orienteering Challenge
Exercise your mind and body using a map and compass to find markers scattered in the area around Oak Ridge Lodge. Free loaner compasses will be provided. Presented by the Possum Trot Orienteering Club.

The Konza Swamp Band
A lively mix of Bluegrass, Country, Blues, and Rock.

Pancake Breakfast & Concessions
Hosted by the Johnson County Sertoma Club.
